Rhododendrums and Azaleas blooms create beautiful hedges in the spring.

Be sure to mulch heavily with pinestraw. Texas Scarlet Flowering Quince is a lovely hedge with early bright red blooms. This hedge bears its bright red blooms then its foliage with apple like fruit, which attracts local wildlife. These hardy plants contribute color and vivacity to your garden with its early blooms.

The Burning Bush is one of the most popular cultivars of hedges. This shrub, changes color throughout the season first with dark green leaves and by fall the leaves are brilliant red. This shrub is extremely easy to grow, spread quickly and will grow anywhere. The Rose of Sharon is another beautiful shrub that has double blooms appearing in August or early fall. The blooms can be red, white, blue, or pink and may be, the only plant blooming in your yard in early fall. This hedge can grow to be 8 feet tall and works well in both sunny and partial shaded areas.
